The 26th edition of the Cutting Edge CE Conference (formerly Cutting Edge Music Business Conference) will take place at the New Orleans InterContinental Hotel, August 22 – 25, 2018. Registration is now open, visit http://www.cuttingedgenola.com
Cutting Edge CE Conference provides an intimate environment where musicians, entertainment professionals, and attorneys can mingle with speakers asking and answering questions in a relaxed atmosphere. Panel topics and speakers will concentrate on “Hot” topics and “Current” trends in today’s music and entertainment industry.

 

26th Cutting Edge Entertainment Law SeminarUpdates in Today’s Entertainment Law – The seminar will explore the updates in Strategies, Tactics and Important Deal Points in entertainment contracts. Panel sessions covering new domestic and international laws on entertainment litigation, copyrights, Virtual Reality (VR), IP issues, crowdfunding, business formation, distribution, producers’ agreements and transactional legal issues facing Indie filmmakers pitching projects for Reality TV.

 

Music Business Sessions – Cutting Edge will host “The Art of Listening.” How the Entertainment Industry Evaluates Artists Songs, Performances, and Recordings. Entertainment experts will address how becoming a successful artist/group require attention to detail, a committed professional development team, songwriting and musicianship. Panelists will critique live performances by artists as part of panels on songwriting, producing great records or at least good ones, booking gigs, management, and recording techniques. Entertainment entrepreneurs will gain vital knowledge on business planning, using music to brand your business and how to promote shows and events. Social media experts will show musicians and entrepreneurs how to get a million fans.

 

Cutting Edge CE Listening Room at the conference will provide the ultimate artist’s industry networking/performance opportunity, provide real-time critiquing during conference sessions and at daily networking events. The importance of listening allows panelists to engage and the artist to express their artistry while being critiqued by industry professionals. The concept of listening is an essential to the artists’ showcases and the NOLA Downtown Music and Arts Festival. Film and Interactive Workshop – Music in Films screening and panels on the use of music in Indie Filmmaking will again address use issues and how music helps tell a filmmakers story. Cutting Edge’s Educators Forum will discuss entrepreneur training and the music industry.

NewWorks Artist Showcase and the 8th NOLA Downtown Music and Arts Festival – Located in Downtown New Orleans, the NOLA Downtown Music and Arts Festival and NewWorks Artists Showcase is a Cutting Edge Showcase Festival presenting essential and emerging artists from across the country. The CE Listening Room is a forum for artists to deliver their NewWorks in an atmosphere where their artistry is more important than beer sales.

 

Cutting Edge’s Roots Music Gathering will ‘get back to its roots’ – Here “Roots Music” is defined as music with a cultural base in communities that have been passed down from generation to generation. The Roots Music Gathering is a series of conference sessions, lectures, presentations, exhibits and audio/visual presentations organized to encourage discussion on the history, cultural context, and artistry of various styles of music known as ‘roots.” (e.g., Jazz, Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, Rock and Roll, Rap, Country, Bluegrass, Louisiana Swamp Pop, Cajun/Zydeco, Tejano, Polka, Caribbean/Latin), music once found only in Chitlin’ Circuit and Dance Hall venues and radio programs like Louisiana Hayride, a radio show from Shreveport Louisiana that helped shape Country music. Look for a yearlong exploration into the history and legacy of “Music in/of America.”
