Honoring Pat Jolly, Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

Pat Jolly is the person who single-handedly informed a generation about who was performing and where, first in her legendary 1970’s–80’s Jolly Jazz Calendar, a brochure of weekly listings funded by the New Orleans Jazz Festival. With this brochure she set a new standard, teaching other print publications the importance of music, gallery and event listings. Jolly continued her information campaign into the Internet age and now provides her weekly PatJolly.com listing of events, shows, CD releases and “everything New Orleans.” Not pretentious, never all knowing (though clearly often the most versed person in the room), always pleasant, and ever on the move either going to an event or coming from one, Pat Jolly is a constant in the New Orleans music and culture scene; we are grateful and enriched by her dedication. Cutting Edge is proud to announce a very well deserved Lifetime Achievement Award to Pat Jolly - Hosted by Carlo Ditta

This line-up boasts legendary Billy Gregory on guitar and Gordon who both backed up Longhair in the 70’s and appear on the recently released Professor Longhair – Live in Chicago 1976. Joining them is bassist Bobby Joe Harvey (Irma Thomas) whose father Will also performed with the Professor in Chicago, Fess & James Booker devotee Tom Worrell on keys and vocals, sax player Johnny Pennino (Skip Easterling, Freddy Fender) and soulful belter Diane Lotney (Dr. John). Ditta will be appearing with them as vocalist & guitarist on select numbers.

Original Blues from Sidney, Australia

Hailing from Sydney Australia, Ivor Simpson-Kennedy is one of a new generation of exciting young blues talents to emerge from Down Under. Owning a dark, smoke filled voice and liquid smooth guitar stylings, he utilises these inherent skills to give his compositions a striking originality, paying homage to generations past while bringing a remarkably fresh approach to the table. While his all original music has a deep blues thread throughout, it is by no means one dimensional, with strong reggae, soul and rock flavours permeating deliciously deep grooves. http://www.ivorsk.com/

Captain Ledge Band
7:50 pm - 8:30 pm
Alternative Americana Roots from Wilburton, OK

What happens when Bob Marley and Americana Roots music are combined. Throw in a good dose of Pink Floyd for style along with 80’s hair band energy and you’ve got The Captain Ledge Band. The Captain Ledge band is a family with an adopted member or two. One of those “adoptions” being Greg Gash, a metal guitar player that’s made the transformation to acoustic flat picking and the other being Jason Wood, a sailor with a bad habit for making rhythm. It all adds up to a unique and engaging sound that will “surround you and make you feel welcome”. The family doesn’t stop with the live show though. Tony Adams, a brilliant acoustic player. formerly from the band of a Grammy Award winning musician, adds an incredible flavor when the band is in the studio. http://www.captainledge.com/
