Copyright and Trademark Experience:
❖ Filed countless federal trademark applications and responded to USPTO Office Actions.
❖ Represented clients in Opposition proceedings in the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB)
❖ Filed numerous copyright applications and other filings with the U.S. Copyright Office for sound recordings, musical compositions, audiovisual works, literary works, photographs, and 2D works.
❖ Drafted and negotiated numerous copyright licenses, copyright assignments, and distribution agreements in the areas of music and film.
❖ Drafted numerous independent contractor, above-the-line, below-the-line, performer, and artist agreements in the areas of music and film.
❖ Represented clients federal copyright infringement and trademark infringement actions, including a published opinion in a trademark infringement action in the Southern District of Florida
❖ Successfully negotiated and drafted numerous settlements involving termination and release of contracts.Leadership:
Attorney Charlotte Towne has been an active member of the Florida Bar – Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law section (EASL), serving in a multitude of leadership positions, including Section Chair in 2016-2017 and 2023-2024 Section Treasurer. Charlotte has been selected to educate legal professionals on copyright, trademark, contract, and litigation issues on numerous legal panels, nationally and internationally, for the ABA Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries, the Florida Bar’s EASL, the North American Law Summit, and at various law school symposiums.
